Just a Quicky Before Work

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

If you don’t enjoy this movie then you are dead to me: The Street Fighter However, if you can’t feel the phlegmie kung foo goodness, you will appreciate BellyQueen. Everyone appreciates BellyQueen. Though someone should inform the handful of too-skinny girls in this performance that you can’t shake what you ain’t got. Like the man said You gotta pack much back.

Its -2 degrees today, not factoring in the 90mph wind chill. I fell unconscious from shock the moment I walked out the door this morning and the Widget had to drive herself to kindergarten. I woke up in Santos Dumont where I ordered a big-ass coffee then scuttled home.

I am so tired right now that I think I might pass out right here at the keyboard. I am bound and determined to complete ROBO #5 by Thursday so that I can enjoy Digital Overload with a clean conscious this weekend. I’m not sure what to expect from DO –I’ll probably just end up playing a bunch of video games. I’m hoping that I’ll actually be busy though.

Alright, 7 ½ pages to go . . .

Red 5 on Silver Bullet Comics

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Okay, February ended a few short hours ago, and I’ve got the first 7 pages of ROBO #5 inked. I’ll have the book finished before the Digital Overload show on the 9th. To speed up the work I’ve begun inking exclusively in Sharpie Marker. I’m loosing a lot of the finer details, but I’m sure no one will notice. (more…)

Comic Conventions & Video Games

Boy what a week. Larry’s show was a lot of fun, and being only about 45 minuts from home, something I hope to do again. Saw quite a few familiar faces and a lot of new one’s too. Business was definitely good enough. Thanks everybody! I think Brian Mulcahy seems to be turning into my Daddy Warbucks –only Brian rocks a stylish beard like myself. Not only did he commission that Perhapanauts page from me a few weeks ago, but he picked up my Amazing Joy Buzzards pin-up and a sketch of the ‘Haps character that is based on his likeness. (more…)

White Christmas, My Ass!

God I miss electricity! The lights went out at 6:30am and haven’t come back.

Dorinda woke me in the predawn light to shine a giant SCUBA light in my face -so that I could find my way downstairs in two hours when I woke up. Thanks babe. Luv you.

For two days now we’ve had intermittent power thanks very much to an ice storm that moved through the area Sunday night.

But the Juice has been cut off all day and there are no lights, heat, internet, or coffee in my house today. This sucks.

I was thinking that I might actually get a few days off this month –my first since starting this freelance art nonsense. Being forced to take time off by Nature is *not* what I had in mind. . .

Stone by Day, Rejected By Night

I was super stoked to get an email from one of the creators of GARGOYLES a week or so ago. They were shopping around for fill-in artists to work on the new Gargoyles comic book. Like all the other comic book artists I know, I have NO IDEA what is going on in the industry, so it was a double pleasure. A comic? Me maybe draw comic? Happy day! (more…)

I Luvs Me Some Fakies

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

yuletree.jpgWe put the ol’ Yule Stick up today –otherwise know as a Christmas tree. Its not that I’m a pagan. Its just that I understand that Jesus was most likely born in September, and the whole tree/gift thing is an entirely non-Christian tradition. So I’ve taken to calling it a Yule tree (which irritates the crap out of my wife, which in turn makes me look for reasons to mention the stupid thing).

This year we upgraded our fake tree to a much better fake tree. The old one was so ghetto Charlie Brown that I couldn’t take it anymore and I “accidentally” took it to the dump while I was moving to the attic for storage last year. I had intended to be smart and buy a fancy one over the summer when they are cheap. But who the hell thinks about holiday trees in August? So we bought it today.

I love it. It opens like a big three piece umbrella with the lights already on it. And it actually looks nice. Hell, if I hadn’t taken it out of the bubble wrap myself I’d swear it was real. I wonder if they make them with the ornaments already attached too? Because hanging all that junk is a drag. (more…)
