Day The First:

This week the I Hate Blogs blog is coming to you from somewhere in Alaska. Probably whatever bar in Anchorage I was able to find that had  wi-fi. Perhaps you are asking yourselves, “Since when do they have an Alaska Comic Con?” Well they don’t.

I’m actually here on family business -specifically the disposal of my father’s remains. He’s been dead for well over a year now -we’re sort of a family of procrastinators. We’ve already taken care of the stake through the heart, dismemberment, and incineration. All that is left is to scatter the ashes on the far side of several thousand bodies of running water and we will be reasonably assured that he will not cause us any more trouble. Though perhaps choosing a place called Resurrection Bay to scatter his remains is not the wisest choice. (more…)

San Diego Comic Con! (Edit)

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Wizard Universe did a quick little Interview with us. thought you’d like to check it out .

So SDCC begins this Thursday. Brian, Ronda, and I will be with Red5 Comics at L3, in the small press area. Things are going to be pretty tight, so we won’t be there every minute of the con, but I hope to see lots of people, sell tons of sketches and Robo pages, and wander around, taking in the spectacle. All Is Well With The Blog Again

Monday, July 7th, 2008

The last two weeks have been nothing but one irritating issue with my website after another. Formatting, links, images -you name it! Much thanks go out to Brian Clevinger for updating my version of WordPress and still somehow keeping my old custom web theme thing intact. (more…)

Wall-E & Atomic Robo Vol.2.2 (links fixed)

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

The reviews for the Atomic Robo TPB are starting to roll in. Rogues Gallery, the Comic Book Bin, Geeks of Doom!, and The Trades. I’d like to show them too you -but WordPress is currently all jacked up and I can’t add links to anything.

HUGE thanks to Brian for updating WordPress for me, thus making this possible. I’m leaving the rest of the blog as it is due to time constraints, but I hope you enjoy the TPB reviews. (more…)

It’s Officially Summer

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

And as a result I’ve got nothing to show you. Emma is out of school, we spent a few wet and rainy hours at Goss Park, (because swim lessons are rain or shine), and I’ve been trudging through emails for a large part of the day.

I will post something about the Boston and New York trip later this week.

For now, just be amazed. Someone has finally done it; (more…)

Atomic Robo & The Fightin’ Scientists of Tesladyne June 18!

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

The Atomic Robo Vol.1 TPB hits stores this Wednesday. Hooray for Trade Paperbacks, (otherwise known as “graphic novels” to the pretentious, hipster elite). I will be signing at New England Comics for a good chunk of the day this Wednesday. I’ll be at the Malden store from 11:30am-1:30pm, and then the Harvard store from 3:30pm-5:30pm. (more…)

Some Bad News

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

I just copied this directly from www.atomic-robo.com. Luckily, in the grand scheme of things, it’s pretty minor.

Atomic Robo and the Fightin’ Scientists of Tesladyne will be late. Our printer screwed up and there is no possible way for it to hit shelves June 11th as scheduled. It should arrive the following week, June 18th.

Team Robo turned in all materials to Red 5 on time and Red 5 turned in everything to the printer on time. The printer just misunderstood (or mistyped?) when they needed the job to be done and no one realized it until it was too late to do anything.

Not too happy about this, but I’m trying to be zen about the situation. We did everything right, what went wrong was out of our control, and getting heart-attackingly infuriated about it now won’t fix anything. Serenity now.

Most importantly: everyone who ordered our trade will be getting it. You’ll just get it a week later than expected. What really cheeses me off (sorry for the harsh language, there) is how unfair this is to the retailers where Scott and I were going to do signings. These folks have been plugging us and the trade’s date of release for weeks, and now they’ve got to say “just kidding!” Bleh.

It’s More Than a Cookie. It’s a Cake.

Y’know what? Fig Newtons are delicious. I just thought I’d share that with you. After not tasting one of these little wonders for at least a few decades I’ve been snacking on them all week after the Widget declared that she didn’t like them any more, and indicated that I should stop putting them in her lunch.

Damn they’re tasty. (more…)

Those Who Dare, Have Sore Asses

Monday, May 19th, 2008

So last week was insane as I busted my hump to get Robo 2.2 finished on time, (and failed), I got ready for Granite Con, and tried to earn the digital camouflage for my MP5 in CoD4.

The Internets Are Made of Hate

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I hope that at some point in the future bad reviews for Atomic Robo stop hurting so much. Granted you really have to consider the source, and some random bunch of dorks with a Blogger account aren’t exactly what you’d call impressive movers and shakers in the comic book industry. Clearly they don’t hold seats on the Eisner Award Nomination comity. (ZING! My first public Eisner joke!) (more…)
