No Blog For You
Sorry. It’s Wednesday and still no blog. I’m sick.

Here is my condensed list of why there’s no blog this week:
-NYCC wiped me out, just in time to return to Wilton where 40+ kids missed school last Monday with some sort of flue or cold or whatever. So several days later my life went sort of drippy and snuffly.
-Two days after I returned home, Dorinda took off for 5 days in Chicago at a writers convention.
-My senile 80yr old father-in-law has also been sick. And an ornery jackass to boot. Just for your own reference, if someone ever buys you some extra groceries because they know you need them and it’s really the least they could do; don’t respond with an angry phone call saying how you don’t need them, how you can take care of yourself, and “don’t be buying me shit I don’t need.” The correct response is, “Wow that was muthafukin’ considerate of you! Thank you muthafucka!” That response is doubly correct if the person buying shit for you is sick as a dog and playing “single parent” for the week.
-I got Gears of War 2 for my birthday. Someone needs to stop the Locust Horde.
-Brian and I have been busting out balls on a super-secret project that we can’t tell you about. What I can tell you is that several times a week we attend a phone meeting where we unzip out pants, pull out our scrotums, and people bang on them with rubber mallets.
-And finally, I am trying to squeeze a Marvel project right into the middle of Robo V.3. This Marvel book has been in Previews and is all over the internet (like here) but I only received a plot outline yesterday.
So I’m a little winded after all that.
On the bright side I had to see my doctor the other day. Because I’ve had cancer twice, and I found a lump. Perhaps that special little terror is what stressed my immune system and got me sick. Anyway, the good news is that I have a lump. And it’s just a lump -like a bee-bee of tissue in my arm. Because I draw hard all day and then press iron at the gym like a fucking machine. My arm, having only limited means of protest did . . uh, what it did and made a lump. Well fuck you lump. We’re going to the gym as soon as I stop hacking up this murky yellow shit.
Also on the bright side, my 9 month diet change (which I rather enjoy and is easy to sustain), and the last two months at the gym have eliminated my acid reflux issue, dropped my blood pressure into the “Smooth Jazz” region, and my triglycerides (which is a bad sort of cholesterol) have gone from 280 down to 163 and if that trend continues I will be awesome in just ten more points or so. Through all of this I’ve only lost 3lbs so far, but since hitting the gym I’m been losing inches and building back all that muscle I lost when I first sat down at this drafting table two and a half years ago. So I’m happy.
Anyway, I’ve got to get hammered in the scrotum now. I’ll do a nice blog next week.

The Human Torch gig is pretty cool. I like the Golden Age robot one. Hope you get better soon.
get well bro- I’m one of those people who can not get the flu or it’s serious business. I get the flu shot every year and have heard all the stories that it doesn’t work. I will tell you that I haven’t caught the flu in 3 years and I love it.
On the upside, I can’t wait to see how your Human Torch stuff comes out.
I personally think that it will fit you a lot better than the Punisher gig.
Drink lots of fluid - Peace
I’m sorry that Don is giving you such a hard time. My only thoughts are that he just can’t come to grips with the changes in his life. And he’s taking them out on you. Maybe there is a line for that scrotum smacking.
I hope you get well soon bro.
Yeah for benign lumps! I had one of those once, it was surgically removed.
Hope Dee returns soon.
Scott, can’t we have ONE conversation where the pants stay ON?
What was that? I couldn’t hear you over the sound of my falling pants.
Muscle is denser than fat so it weighs the same, but takes up less space than fat, but you do not have to work at keeping fat on.
Great seeing you at NYC and hope you are feeling better soon.
Timely Comics. Feh.
You’ll be happy to know that upon seeing your name in the Marvel solicits I specifically thought to myself “OK, just to be safe, don’t mention this to anyone until Scott puts it on his blog”!
Scott…stop working out! Seriously, man…what you think is weight loss is actually a reduction of mass that will keep occurring until…
*calculates*
…a rift is torn in the space-time continuum!!
…which would actually be pretty cool. Carry on!
(and feel better soon!)
Cool, more Marvel goodness from you.
Good about the lump just being a lump.
Get better
Scott shall become the most ripped comic artist in the world!
Which probably isn’t that hard of a goal to achieve really…
i can see it now Oeming vs Wegener, arm wrestling on Pay Per View.
I totally understand where you are coming from, I had 10 minor ulcers and had to learn a better way to handle my stress of day job and comic artist work at night. I was taking meds for it but recently stopped in the middle of the prescription since I felt way better and I had a hard time remembering when to take the pill anyways. Next step is to start back at the gym again. I’ve missed about 4 weeks. UGH!
Man, I thought I was over the hump with this cold (or whatever it is) but it just keeps lingering. I was hoping to get back to the gym tomorrow but i don’t think that’s gonna happen. The School secretary told me that it hangs around for a few weeks before you really kick it.
I had a cold that started mid-December and didn’t end until almost Feb. It sucked.
Hey Scott,
Man, I stop checking out your blog for a minute and all this happens to you.
I’m bummed I couldn’t go to NYCC again this year, but the new date hit right on top of the Angouleme Festival in France, which also left me with a week of snot and headaches. I would have liked to meet you in person and chat.
Glad to know the lump is just a lump, and hope you beat the cold soon.
Congratulations on the Human Torch thing.
And good luck against the Locust Horde. We’re rooting for you.
Yes… The Gears could always use the help! Welcome aboard!
Sorry your feeling like crap. I know the feeling all to well, since the freakin place that employs me messed with my schedule…
Grats on the Marvel Gig, I’ll be sure to pick it up. Can’t wait for the Robo trade to drop next week.
Good to hear that… the lump is just a lump. If it had been me, I would have been to the doctors six times by now… “I think it moved…” “I think its bigger” “Its kind of shaped like a badger now…”
I know, not to make light but… yea. Good to hear man.
