Mixed Bag Blog

Just a bunch of random stuff this week. I’m kind of tired, and I really need to get rolling on Robo Vol.3. Vol.2 Dogs of War #4 is out this week -don’t forget to grab your copy. If your local shop is lame and doesn’t carry Atomic Robo, or you are lame, and aren’t there twenty minutes before the shop opens, fogging up the windows with your heavy breathing on new comic day, you can always find Robo online. We always recommend Heavy Ink.

I’ve been terrible about posting new art the past few months. So here are a few pages from 2.4 you can take a peek at.

Tag, You’re IT. New Hampshire Magazine is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if they’re putting guys like me on this list. :) Seriously though, I was very excited to be included. NH Magazine is a great little publication. They did an article on Robo about a year ago and I’ve been reading on and off every since. It’s a fantastic guide for interesting things to do and see in NH. For those of you living in the Granite State it’s worth checking out.

The Hippo also did a little something on local artists. The Hippo is akin to those free papers you find in most big cities (like the Boston Phoenix). It’s kind of a young hipster’s guide to life. I enjoy flipping through it at the local coffee shop to see all the fun stuff I might do if I didn;t ahve a child, or could afford a babysitter.

Dave Simons’ take on Atomic Robo. You can count on seeing this in the Vol.2 TPB. It’s got gorillas for cryin’ out loud!

Black Hole. It makes me laugh.

The Portsmouth NH show was yesterday, and it was a blast. Ralph really pulled in some major talent, especially considering that it was just a one-day show. David Peterson, Craig Rousseau, Chris Golden, and Joe Hill, as well as a formidable gaggle of talented New England artists. It was great talking to Golden gain after meeting him briefly at ICA a few months ago, and I had a very enjoyable chat with Hill. He and his family picked up a bunch of Robo stuff, which in no way influences my extremely positive opinion of him.

In sadder news, I finished Fable 2. Twice. While I really love this game, I felt that the ending left MUCH to be desired. There was no sense of accomplishment or closure. In many ways Fable 2 reminds me of a girl I dated breifly named Jen Griffen. She was very flirtatious, but every time you got to third base she decided it was time to order a pizza, or watch TV. Yet just like Jen, Fable 2 has those “come-hither” eyes, and I am a sucker for them. And also like Jen, Fable 2 has left me with the gamer’s equivalent of blue balls. Thanks Lionhead studios. Thanks a lot.

Fable2 is still a solid game and it has what 95% of the other next gen games out there lack -a good story. I’m sure I’m going to love Gears of War 2, but the story (and thus my attachment to the characters and thier world) was laughably stupid -more so because it takes itself so seriously.

Hey Scott thanks for coming to the show! I had a blast, it was great meeting all those creators. Joe Hill and Steve Bissette were awesome guys to talk to.

I wanted to apologize for again talking your ear off… and forcing my art upon you… I really did geek out again, despite telling myself I wasn’t going to. >.>

Thanks again for the sketch, it was awesome. I still say I spent too much money. But it was an awesome day.

I will have to fog the windows for another week before I can read the fourth issue… The communist party that is my employer refuses to pay for my eyes… so I must pay out of pocket… to keep them MY eyes…

Joy.

Hey Scott, I’m jealous :(
Dave Simon’s Nazi Gorillas are awesome and I had to go and draw Robo as a 100 ft giant fighting a Godzilla- Rip Off.
Next time he’ll be sharing blows with King Kongish Beast, hm with a hammer and sickle.
LOL
Keep up the good work- bro.
peace

That last sequential is my absolute favorite! Well done.

And Gears of War 2. Um, seriously, Jump on the wagon. You’ll love it long time. And try Left 4 Dead, too. Zombie goodness.

Matt -SHIT. Resend me that ref, would you?

Nick it was great to see you again. So day you won’t geek out. have faith. :)

I am stoked for Left 4 Dead. GoW #1 left me yawning -it was so repetative. I didn’t have XBL back then, which was were the real fun is, I’m told. But that brings me back to my hatred of games that sacrifice the single-players game for the multi-player. Stupid when most people don’t have access to XBL.

I’ll still be playing it though.

GoW #2= CHAINSAW GUN. Nuff said.

Please there is a level where you get to use said chainsaw to cut up a gigantic heart. AWESOME.
