Tomorrow Is Free Comic Book Day

fcbd.jpg

This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. It’s an annual event where you can go to a comic book store and, in case there’s some confusion about the name, get some free comics. Most stores participate, but not all of them, so it’s best to check ahead of time. If your store is worth the space it occupies, they’ll have ordered Red 5’s FCBD offering with all new original Atomic Robo and Neozoic stories.

Brian will be signing at Sci-Fi City from about noon until question mark. It would not be out of the question for him to make a surprise and totally unofficial appearances at the Bad Apple Comics by UCF or maybe A Comics Shop across from Full Sail. Maybe if he did that, he’d give away some of these copies of Atomic Robo #1 to people who haven’t yet taken the plunge on the series. But who can say? The future is a terrifying place filled with uncertainty.

Meanwhile, I will be signing at Jetpack Comics from 9am - 12pm, Double Midnight from 1pm to 4pm, and Larry’s Comics from 5pm until whenever.

We were limited to three at my LCBS, so it was Hellboy and Atomic Robo for me as well as a Death, Jr. Halloween special that may or may not have been an “official” FCBD comic, but it was on the table and I was glad to make it my 3rd.

Looking forward to reading it.

Yeah FCBD! Dee and Scott looked fabulous!

Maybe Scott can actually spend some time at home next weekend…

Both stores I went to had next to nothing in terms of Independents. Definitely didn’t have AR.One of the stores is very small and he explained why but the other had no excuse. Granted I went to the bigger one after seeing Iron Man later in the afternoon but they didn’t even have the Hellboy movie issue…which I got at the smaller store.

So long story short I have a new store after months of deliberating and frustration.

Hope you had a good time and I hope your hand hurts from signing. :)

Great seeing you and meeting your lovely wife/t-shirt model at FCBD. It warms my heart to witness geeks in love. Where can THIS geek find his female counterpart? Guess I’ll have to attend some of those big conventions… Thanks for signing my massive mountain of comics and my one-of-a-kind Robo tee. I heard some guy outside of Double Midnight say that he was going to frame his tee shirt! Thanks also for letting me “pester” you with questions concerning publishing etc. I have a comic I’ve had in a drawer for over 12 years that I tinker with every now and then. I’m thinking it’s time for it to see the light of day finally! I’ll probably see you at the Manch-Vegas con with my little, Robo-lovin’ nephews in tow. Congrats again Scott and get some friggin’ sleep!:)

P.S. Just wanted to give you a head’s up that I just sent you an email regarding the Robo page I was looking at yesterday as well as a technical issue I encountered trying to buy your 2006 sketchbook online (not sure if you’re aware of it.) I know you probably check the blog more often than your emails…
