Happy Memorial Day everybody.
Unlike most of you, I don’t think I look forward to long weekends anymore. Most of my time is spent wondering, “When will she go back to work, and this other one go back to school, so I can get back to my nice quiet life, drawing comics, and chilling with the cat?”

So last week was insane as I busted my hump to get Robo 2.2 finished on time, (and failed), I got ready for Granite Con, and tried to earn the digital camouflage for my MP5 in CoD4.
My how time flies. Why, just yesterday, I thought I had another week to get ready for this!
So yeah, Granite Con is upon us! I will be there all day, doing sketches, signing books, and selling art, sketchbooks, shirts, and comics.
This is a great family-oriented show, folks. Its a lot of fun. These smaller, one day shows are usually pretty great. Its very casual, you don’t feel overwhelmed, and unlike at the more massive multi-day shows, the artists or writers that you want to meet will actually have a few minutes to just chat with you.
Also appearing is Ethan Van Sciver of Green Lanters and Bendis Board fame/infamy. Ethan is so huge now, that he can afford to do sketches for FREE. Get them while they’re hot!
You can also come meet Scott Kolins, Joe Hill, Khoi Pham, Keith Champagne, and Bob Almond, as well as dozens of local artists.
I hope that at some point in the future bad reviews for Atomic Robo stop hurting so much. Granted you really have to consider the source, and some random bunch of dorks with a Blogger account aren’t exactly what you’d call impressive movers and shakers in the comic book industry. Clearly they don’t hold seats on the Eisner Award Nomination comity. (ZING! My first public Eisner joke!) (more…)

This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. It’s an annual event where you can go to a comic book store and, in case there’s some confusion about the name, get some free comics. Most stores participate, but not all of them, so it’s best to check ahead of time. If your store is worth the space it occupies, they’ll have ordered Red 5’s FCBD offering with all new original Atomic Robo and Neozoic stories. (more…)
