Scott Wegener

Women love him...

and men want to be him...

Sorry Philadelphia . . .

. . .But I won’t be attending Wizard World Philly this year. I was ready to suck up the increased airfare –because I understand that gas is not cheap and besides, airplane really fuck up the Stratosphere and make the air nasty. But spending 4 days in my car for a 3 day con is ridiculous also.

However, $200 for a 4’ table at a WW convention? Where odds are high I’ll be stuck in some backwater corner or across from some skanky porn star?

I feel pretty bad about not going because I have a lot of friends in Philly, and the show has always been kind to me (despite my complaint last paragraph). But paying $50 a foot is just ridiculous.

The same money gets me more space at Heroes, and even LESS money gets me more at PittCon. I’ve always heard Heroes was one of the best shows going and I know from personal experience that PittCon is the cat’s pajamas.

Of all the cons I did last year, PittCon was the best. Not only is it kind to artists, it also feeds us lunch, allows us to reserve last year’s table if we liked it, and keeps us up to our eyeballs in alcohol at night after the show.

SPEAKING OF CONVENTIONS!

I will be at the big NYCC on the 18th and 19th! I’ll be chilling at Double Midnight Comics Booth #2702. I’ll be there from 12pm until 3pm on Friday, and all day Saturday. I have to drive home on Sunday though. Sorry.

I’ll also be at PittCon April 25-27 at Table D (right by the Radisson entrance). If I look a little boozed up, blame it on the con. J

On the off chance that any of you have been dying to buy some original Atomic Robo art, a t-shirt, or sketchbook you can now get all of that and more at the Comic Art House! I can do commissions, but the wait is rather long these days.

 RANDOM SPELNDOR

-I foretell that I shall lose many hours reading Steve Canyon on-line.

-You guys have got to check out the Soul Geek Network . If I were not already married to the geek of my dreams I would SO be trying this out.

Normally I suck at remembering where I find things, but this comic came from Kate Beaton.

I’ll be the dumb jerk sitting next to Scott at Pittcon! That makes me cool, right?

    Right…?

  2. Jeff Said:

Any chance you and Brian will be at Baltimore Comic Con this year? I’m a sucker for signatures.

  3. Brian M. Said:

I’ll be there all three days handing out Choopie Butt cards and spreading the good word about The Perhapanauts. Swing by the table in artists alley if you get a chance.

  4. Brian M. Said:

At the NYC Con, that is.

@Jeff -right now I would say that its 95% certain that I will NOT be doing Baltimore again. The show was okay, but its too short, and too far away.

@ Brian M. -I’ll try to find you. They’re still pushing Perhapanauts?

Yep, the ‘Haps is relaunching this April as an ongoing series at Image.

Also, thought you might get a kick out of “my” entry over at the Brian Stelfreeze is a Cool Cat 60’s Spy Theme contest. I thought the marriage of Adam Hughes and Scott Wegener came out pretty well.

You know, I think you should actually send a letter to the mayor of Philly. Explain why you aren’t attending. See what happens.
