Der Chrizmas Blawg
Since I won’t be around to post on Monday I thought I would post early, rather than late.
I know that normally my blogs are rather rant-filled and silly. Because, from what I’m told, people like it that way. But for this blog I’ll just be myself.
It has been a really fantastic year. And in the main that is due to you guys. I want to take a second to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has supported Atomic Robo and made it possible for me to do this work. You guys are the best!
In going through the old blogs, (while trying to fix the website last week), I realized just how far I have come in the last 12 months. You don’t notice changes like that when you are living them. I am very excited about what is coming up in 2008. Finally getting back to Atomic Robo this week has been fantastic. I didn’t realize just how much I missed working on this book. And working with Team Robo.
Brian Clevinger, Jeff Powell, and Ronda Pattison -I could not ask for a better bunch of people to collaborate with. Jeff and Ronda consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. That Christmas postcard for example -all Ronda’s idea, and look at the sweet new logo Jeff made for it. All I did was get drunk at a holiday party and scribble Robo sitting in a truck. Of course, without Brian there would be no Atomic Robo. So what can I really say? We seem to make a great team and I hope that 20 years from now he and I are still working together.
Also big thanks to Paul Ens and Scott Chitwood of Red5 Comics. They took a big risk in publishing Atomic Robo and I am eternally grateful. Thanks guys!
I’ll leave you this week with two of my all-time favorite short Christmas movies. They are more-or-less work friendly. Unless the occasional naked old guy is inappropriate? I guess it depends where you work.
Happy Holidays!
-Scott

As a proud recipient of the postcard– THANKS RONDA!– I can say it’s awesome.
And you guys -all- rock! You should be very proud of the growth and achievements you’ve accomplished both individually and as a team this year. Thanks for sharing the ride!

Hey Scott,
Somehow I stumbled over to your blog last week without any knowledge of your work or Atomic Robo. Now I’m a huge fan…it was quite fun going back through the blog posts and your sketches/art. I’ve got a plutonic man crush over your work on Atomic Robo…its great (we just wont tell my wife). I’m tracking down back issues and subscribing to the rest. I’m a big fan of sci fi, ww2, adventure, flash gordon, etc. so this is right up my alley.
I hope it goes on for a long time.
Happy Holidays and thanks for the fun times!!!

Thanks for the words of gratitude. It’s easy to support a dude who’s talented, funny, and humble. I’m really impressed with much you improve from book to book. You should be really proud of yourself. Cool holiday card. Santa’s sleigh has nothing on Robo’s Joy Cannon. I look forward to seeing what you have in store for your fans in 2008. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Scott!

P.S. Check out the latest piece on my blog when you get a chance. I think it’s one of my better ones.

Congrats on a great 2007, Scott. Atomic Robo and your Punisher are easily at the top of my list of Year’s Best (Team Immonen’s Hellcat (Marvel Comics Presents) and Kirkman/Ottley’s Invincible right up there too). It’s fantastic for me to have a new artist on the scene who engages me, especially since I’ve started drawing again after many, many years of not.
I’d love to get one of them thar postcards, but I wouldn’t want to add to you To DO list. Plus you probably sent the last one to Chuck Norris (ok, I understand your explanation in the last entry. Now I shall consider him to be nothing more than the white MR. T. Although it’s hard to tell what America thinks of their celebrities. I mean Hulk Hogan has a “reality” show on tv now?!!?? And why oh why is this on Mtv?? (the German version at least).
The “M” certainly don’t stand for Music anymore…)
Looking forward to more of what you have to offer in 2008.
