Snow Days Are For Suckers
I know you kids love it when I spout off about silly stuff, and I’m full of bile today. But first I want to talk about something that makes me happy.
Atomic Robo made the Top 300 list with Issue #1. When you compare our sales to those of New Avengers its fairly pathetic. But not when you consider that they are the product of Marvel comics with years of experience and a massive fanbase. And we are . . .well, we are what we are.
According to Diamond Atomic Robo #3 hits stores this week. According to Red5 Comics Diamond is smoking crack again. You should call your LCS just to make sure they pull a copy for you.

Because people keep forgetting, or their shops do, I’m gonna start posting the Diamond codes here.
Atomic Robo #1 (second printing): SEP078147
Atomic Robo #2: SEP073914
Atomic Robo #3: OCT073752
Atomic Robo #4: NOV073787
Atomic Robo #5: DEC073863
Have you guys seen Atomic Robo on Wikipedia? That’s pretty cool. Feel free to add to it. I can’t as they frown on people contributing to their own pages from what I hear.
Snow Day: What the hell is up with this? This is why America is losing the war on Freedom people! I had to go to school in the snow. Why shouldn’t my child?! Okay fine there *are* 4†if snow on the ground, and the roads around here are sketchy even in good weather. But big friggin’ deal. 90% of the people I see are driving 4 wheel drive SUVs. You’ll be fine you fat planet killing mother-fuckers.
This town shuts down at the mere mention of snow. Its like Wilton is populated exclusively with Floridians who only pretend to be old New Hampshire Yankees. Last week school had a 2 hour delay because of a fire. The fire was on the other side of town from the school and there were about 6 ways to drive around it. <>
I’ve got 3 page of Punisher left, and I have my impending vacation planned to the minute. If Nature thinks she’s gonna mess that up for me, she’s got another thing coming.

Google Alert: its just not that awesome. And that hurts because I love Google and its Googly products like some techno-dorks love all that Mac crap, (even if they are horribly over-priced and don’t work half the time and all you’re really paying for is the image of being a Mac-geek –but I digress . . .)
For those who don’t know Google Alert is something that will scour the internet daily for whatever you tell it to look for. In this case I have it tell me when it finds things related to Atomic Robo. How can I respect Google when THIS is the sort of bullshit they bring back when I ask them to hunt the internet for all things Atomic Robo? Okay, granted, Google doesn’t know who I am and has no way of knowing how unhelpful this is to me. I accept that.
But Google Alert also utterly FAILS to notice when big websites like Newsarama, or SBC posts a big interesting article about Robo. WTF Google?
Bah! Technology. I hate it.
At the Big Apple National I picked up the coolest robot helmet evar. I guess its from the new Doctor Who series or something. I just got it because its got a voice modulator, sound effects, and was just a nice piece of work.
Of course the Widget coopted it and it is no longer mine . . .

All hail my new robotic overlord.
Speaking of photos that I finally got around to uploading from my camera -here’s Team Robo (with Stanley Kubrick standing in for Ronda). L2R, that’s me (looking like the chubby balding turd that I am), Kubrick/Ronda, Powell in serious need of a hair cut (which he left the con and got about 15 minutes later), and Clevinger wearing about 7 layers to ward of the chill Northeast air. He almost looks like he weighs 90lbs now.

I’m amazed that there’s enough brain power at that table to actually make a comic book . . .
Now the whole reason I actually got around to dealing with these photos was because Dorinda needed a photo to use for her graduation booklet thing. She’s getting her MFA, and while our very talented photographer friend Chicken took some nice pics of her, but Dorinda thought they made her look a tad older than she actually is. Which is approximately . . . 23. I’m told.

So I snapped this with my idiot-proof digital thing. Thank GOD I just had all those electric blue backdrops hung in the office!
RANDOM SPLENDOR
Lots of people do really cool things with LEGO. But this is probably the best produced Lego film I’ve seen.
I’m fresh out of stupid pictures! Can you believe it?
However, in a totally random and providential discovery I found a bunch of old pictures of Dorinda. I was rooting through my files for some WWII errata for a Robo story and I found one of Dorinda’s old modeling portfolios. She will no doubt beat the crap out of my for posting these, but I just think they are a lot of fun.

“More light! I can still see her nose!” (Note the Zoolander pout.)
.

Eww! That hat is just SO 1996 . . oh. . .wait, it was 1996. That’s cutting edge!
.

Okay that’s just cute.
.

Dorinda did a lot of mime work between photo ops. Here she is doing her “Pretentious Art Person, Stuck In An Invisible Box” routine.
Though still my favorite is this Star Trek one. I found it on the internet if you can believe that. I don’t know who took it. What’s even weirder about it is that it was taken in a coffee shop on Haloween that I happened to spend a lot of time in. That was the first time I ever saw my wife and I knew right then that I was going to get this hot geek-girl to date me.
I assure you that no one is more surprised than me that it happened.

It’s good to know Atomic Robo doesn’t suck as much as Tales of Sinestro Corps Parallax and that even outsold the normal GL title.
Dorinda’s modeling pics are awesome in an odd, early 90’s, European kind of way.

I think I have a shot of her in the ST costume… let me search a bit…

Why does everyone on the internet have a better picture of Dee in her Star Trek costume than me?!?

Hey Scott, add “-site:scottwegener.com” to your Google alert search to stop getting your own pages. Any criteria preceded by a minus sign says “exclude”.
A blonde Dorinda! It’s like when Elizabeth Montgomery played Samantha’s identical cousin on Bewitched!

We may have better pictures but you have the original…

Jeff -thanks man
Tetsubo -no I don’t, that’s the thing. I found this on the internet somewhere. I used to have the website, but that was several computers ago.
So some other creep (who’s not me) has the actual photo.

By “original” I meant Dee herself… you doofus…
And who cares who does or does not have pictures of Dee? Of all the guys on the planet, she picked you. Dubious wisdom I know but you did luck out…

Congrats on Robo in the big 300.
Nice to see a Wiki entry too. I’d say do what you want to it, shouldn’t be a problem.
Snow days, yeah, my time in Boston was always agitating when the city went into Panic Alert when it snowed a 2 inches. Er, um, it’s Boston: it’s SUPPOSED to snow.
Swwwweeeeeet Punisher panel.

Just finished AR No. 3 and this series keeps getting better and better. Damn, but I love that guy and it is, in all seriousness, currently my favorite read.
As for the photos of the lovely and incredibly intelligent, except when it comes to men, Dorinda, that shot you took of her for the MFA - Congrats, by they way Dee - came out great. As for the modeling shots, if you ever decide to do a noir book, use that first shot as the basis for your femme fatale.

Robo #3 is great! Everything is even better: composition, poses, scope. Looking forward to #4 as well as Punisher next Wednesday!

Marvel has the first 5 pages of PWJ on their site. However, they have the penciler/inker listed as “Cory Walker.” WTF?! Didn’t YOU do that issue? I left a comment on their site asking them to fix this error. The pages look great, although there’s one panel where you can see Rhino’s tail behind him and from the front it looks like his penis–oh well, nobody’s perfect;) It kind of works for the scene b/c he’s in prison (ha,ha!) Looking forward to picking up PWJ #14 on Wednesday. Are you doing a signing at Double Midnight anytime soon?

OK– jackass: for the record, YOU thought I looked old, hounded me until you convinced me you were *right* (like how you got this marriage);THEN– THEN you post old modeling photos (not even my good ones)– that’s it… I know where you sleep! Dead Man Walking!
