ATOMIC ROBO -Out This Week Suckas!!
Well kids, this is the BIG WEEK. Atomic Robo hits shelves this Wednesday. I’ll be up at Double Midnight from 4:30 until 6pm signing books and generally turning people right off to Robo with my abrasive personality. Brian will be doing the same down in Florida at Sci-Fi City. Hopefully a few blue haired grannies and Cuban exiles will go say hello to him.
I love a good Atomic Robo review. And that’s exactly what The Star Clipper Blog gave us. –“Lastly this brings us to Atomic Robo. Think Brit, Hellboy, and Nicolas Tesla all baked together into a delicious marble cake with Iron Man frosting. Yeah, that’s it exactly.â€
And here’s another one over at Fascination Place. Mike gives us a cautiously friendly review, but considering how disappointed he seems with everything else he’s gotten recently I’ll take that as high praise. 
This has just been a week of Big Stuff for me. Real extreme, y’know? I’m dying to tell you details of something totally awesome and huge that happened on Thursday . . .but I can’t. But I do think its okay to give you a very vague idea so that you can appreciate the scope of the awesomeness.
So I’ve been in a real bind for the past few month. Despite having more work than I could get done in a day it just wasn’t paying the bills. Which really blows because Gone Zombie is terrific fun to work on, as was Goblinz and the slew of random commissions. Anyway . .
As I’m sitting at the kitchen table contemplating an application for seasonal Post Office work and trying not to be utterly depressed with the sudden turn for the suck my life has taken, I get an email.
The long and short of it is that this email comes from one of the Big Two publishers, and they’d like me to do a little fill-in work for them. So woo-hoo for me! Foot. In. Door. When I’m able to spill the beans about the details I will.
You know what’s really funny? As soon as I figured out the math and calendar for this I was all excited because it will let me get back into Robo in January right on schedule. So don’t worry. I’ve not gone Corporate. NOTHING is as much fun to work on as Atomic Robo. I’m not saying I don’t want to do more work for the Big Guys –not at all I’d love to! I’m just saying that I consider Robo to be really important, so assuming there are future offers of work I’ll have to figure out how to strike a workable balance.
Yay high profile work!
Okay, time to get a little snarky. Because I know you love it when I do this. Its nice to know I’m not the only non-idiot on the planet. I often think that what people see in me as sarcastic and angry is really just my ability to look at things critically. Or to put it in the words of Bernard Shaw, “The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don’t have it.â€
Now, it should be noted that I am completely incapable of being critically objective about ANYTHING. And I’m not actually very observant because I spend my days in an internal fantasy land drawing comic books. However, I like to think that when I do poke my head up from my desk and pay attention to something I can pick it apart pretty well. I blame my lack of TV for this -I’m just not numb. Before I start sounding too high and mighty I will tell you that I am totally addicted to the internet. But its a tad more interactive than the boob tube. Anyhoo . . .I’ve found a complete stranger on the other side of the globe who also possess my awesome power’s or perception Check this out. Finally someone puts up a non-flowery review of Halo3. You should also check out his other reviews –they are fantastically accurate.

Scott, what the hell is up with stores like Midtown, Mile High and Lone Star not having Robo #1 available through their online sites? Very disappointing. I’m SO glad I preordered this thru DCBS, but have at least another week before my next shipment. :[
