You guys have been great to me over the past 14 months and you have no idea how happy it makes me every time someone gets a little joy out of my work. Its like crack for the soul. (Not that I know what crack is like . . .for serious.) So if you have a little faith in Team Robo and pick up the entire 6-issue mini-series then we can come back and bring you Atomic Robo Vol2. And believe me, each issue of the first mini gets better and better as Clevinger and I ironed out the wrinkles in our working relationship and my art got stronger and stronger. I’ve learned more about illustration in the past 14 months than in the previous 30 years of doodling and farting around with a sketchbook.
Mr. Fancy Head mentioned this in his morning news and I feel its worth repeating here: Some folks have asked about getting Robo as a Trade Paperback once the 6 issue mini is done. Like a lot of you I prefer to get my comics as TPBs these days too. But listen. There will be NO Robo TPB if sales are not good enough for the individual issues. Red5 Comics is fantastic and therefore not stupid. They wont invest in a TPB for a book that didn’t sell as regular comic books.
So be please, pre-order Atomic Robo. I promise you will like it.

Congrats on all the great reviews! I ordered 4 copies of Atomic Robo from Double Midnight Comics last week and look forward to getting them signed (and buying a t-shirt) when I see you there on 10/10. I just got a phone call from Anton (the man who’s building our web-store thing) and his LCS sold him the advance copy that Red5 sent out to all the biggish retailers and review sites.
Ironically, I have no idea what it looks like. But I hear its a really well made book.

I happened to be at the store today at lunch time when I got a package from Red5 containing previews of all 3 of their books. The book looks awesome, really nice production values much better than most indies! Scott, let me know when you’ll be by next, I might be willing to part with my copy once we’ve finished reading it. $500 sound fair? Alright I’ll settle for a back rub.
