Pre-Order Atomic Robo. NOW!

If you didn’t do it last week, (and you’d better have a DAMN good excuse!), please pre-order ATOMIC ROBO #1 right now. Go on. I’ll wait. Just walk into any comic book shop or on-line comic store and give them this code:

AUG07 3942

That’s the Diamond Distributor code and they are the guys that all American comic books are distributed by.

The initial reviews for Atomic Robo are starting to trickle in. Atomic Robo got a fair reception from these guys. Actually, I guess a “B+” rating is pretty good. My art got a rather unenthusiastic reception and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand it always sucks to under-whelm people with your work. On the other hand, Robo#1 was only the second comic book I ever drew, and I have a hard time looking at the pages these days without flinching like an abused housewife. There’s nothing wrong with the pages –but I was still really uncomfortable with drawing Robo back then. In fact, I think we’d just settled his new and final design a few days before I started work on that issue.

Boy don’t I make ya just want to run right out and buy it!?! Seriously though, I’m happy enough with the art in ROBO #1 only because it takes a quantum leap forward in issue 2, and again in issue 3, issue 4, etc. Practice makes perfect and all that rot. Not that I’ve come anywhere close to perfecting my craft . . .

You can also see Atomic Robo on Silver Bullet Comics. We got 4 out of 5 marks from Silver Bullet, and unlike the random comic blog who gave us our first review I’ve actually heard of Silver Bullet before. In fact they are fairly huge.

You can also catch the ROBO wave at Double Mid-Night Comics, ForeverGeek, and Things From Another World. Check ‘em out! Oh and I just added this video interview from Digital Strips!

Other than a lot of nervous vomiting over Atomic Robo reviews this week I’ve been tearing through KOD3. I got 4 pages penciled in one day this week –that’s twice as fast as I can normally work, and I even managed to get some pages done over the weekend. Who knows, maybe I WILL finish this book before Christmas.

Can I just say; I CAN’T WAIT for summer vacation to be over! Part of my productivity troubles these past 2 months has been the 6yr old monkey wrench that’s tossed into my works every day. For example, its almost 10am on Monday as I write this. The Widget is jumping around in the living room to The Best of The Ramones and every five minutes there is a suspicious noise or thump that I have to get up and investigate. I’d like to start a new KOD page but what’s the point when I have to take her to swimming lessons in less than an hour? So instead of being productive I’m getting the Monday Blog typed up and then I’m going to do some dishes.

And then tonight when I’m still working at 12am I’m gonna be really, really pissed off. ;P

Okay, Random Splendor time:

Read A Book –this has been around the Interwebs a lot this week. So I’m sure you’re sick of it by now. But don’t make me bust out the Llama song!

Who says Christian Science isn’t the funniest fucking thing since Moses dropped the tablet containing the 11th, 12th, and 13th Commandments?

You’re being waaaaaay to hard on yourself Scott. Those reviews were pretty accurate and outstanding considering how new to the field you are. I’d be reassured and pleased with those comments. I’m going to order at least 4 copies of issue #1 and I’ll buy a t-shirt when I hopefully see you in Concord next month. Keep up the GREAT work!

  2. Zack Said:

Hey, are you going to bring Tee’s with you when you hit up Orlando for the signing/release of the comic?

  3. Brian #1 Said:

Actually, Jerkface McGee (a.k.a. Scott) will probably not come to O-Town for the signings. There’s one or two great stores northeast that require his attention in that regard.

  4. Zack Said:

    LAMES.

  5. Scott Said:

Well if these store would only PAY for airline tickets I’d be all over it!

John -I wont be in Concord. I WILL be in Nashua in October though. And Boston.

  6. John Said:

Tell me where exactly you’ll be in Nashua in October and I’ll be there. Will you have shirts?(I’d like a khaki XL) Can’t wait to get my hands on Robo #1!

  7. Scott Said:

I’m not 100% sure when the Nashua show is to be honest -I have to Google it just like you :D

BUT, I was just offered a table for the Concord show. So I will be there. With shirts.

  8. Brian M. Said:

The October show in Nashua is on the 14th.

Scott and Brian–Thanks for the info. I’ll definitely be at one of the conventions and/or your gig at Double Midnight. Will you be bringing shirts there as well? See you soon!

Comics Continuum has posted five preveiw pages of Atomic Robo No. 1 on its site. I really like the coloring, it goes very well with the line art.

Haha… that web site address is my arch nemesis whenever I write press releases for the Nashua show. It’s so counter-intuitive… See you guys there, maybe in Concord, too.
