Scott Wegener

Women love him...

and men want to be him...

Serendipity Art & Free Comic Book Day

The Sketch Gallery is filling up. Pretty soon I’ll have to start taking down some images or it will take ten minutes for the page to load.

Speaking of art, you can now buy my stuff from Serendipity Art! You can still get commissions directly through me via email, but if you want to lay your hands on some sweet, sweet, ROBO action, (or other stuff), this is the place to get it.

And speaking of Robo, This Guy is SO becoming one of Robo’s Action Scientists.

I watched Spider Man 3 last night and this morning I am full of regret. What a piece of crap. Did Michael Bay direct this? :P Not that I went into the movie with very high expectations, but even the ankle high bar I had set towered over the films pathetic attempts not to suck.

Now friends will tell you that I can be brutal on the film industry. They don’t lie. And lets be honest, this blog are far more amusing if I can get all worked up over something completely trivial, so because my love for you is huge and swollen I’ll get started.

Lets start with Toby. Toby Maguire just seems to get worse with each movie and emo/evil Toby with his little black suit was over the top irritating. And what the fuck was up with that horrible Shaft-esque street jive dance bit he was doing after discovering how fun it was to be bad??? Kirsten Dunst just bothers me. Sure, I like her boobies (and who doesn’t) but her ability as an actor is on par with Mary Jane’s ability to work on Broadway. She inspires an instant rage in me that thus far has been reserved for child molesters and IRS employees. Tom Church did a nice job as Sandman though. I only had to block out images of him as Loyd, the semi-retarded aircraft mechanic from WINGS, once or twice.

The best performance in SpiderMan 3 though? Bruce Campbell as the French host at the restaurant where Peter wants to propose to Mary Jane.

Like the previous SpiderMan movies (only more so) the only thing worth watching in this film is the fight scenes. And that’s a crap reason for watching a movie. Unless its Hardboiled, in which case it is mandatory.

Moving on; this is some of the work of Theo Jansen. I was turned on to him a year or two ago and recently got an email with this link in it. He’s an amazing artist. Kinetic Sculpture. More on Theo.

Free Comic Book Day was this past Saturday. After last years assault by irritating Yugio/Pokimon kids I was dreading this. That was a horror of epic proportions. At one point it was so bad that I almost flipped the table over and went Roadhouse on them.

I was so scarred that it wasn’t until last night twhen I realized that this year had actually been a lot of fun. The Widget came along, drew pictures with me, and watched SpiderMan 1 and Hellboy on the big screen TV. I had no idea, but apparently she’s very proud of me. She told anyone who came within ten feet of us that her daddy drew comics, and he was a really good “drawer”. It warmed my black little heart.

I met some really nice kids and there really nice parents, and this year the store kicked out the obnoxious card playing dweebs before things really got started. So I didn’t have to draw a thousand Naruto sketches. I only met one kid that I wanted to punch in the throat, so I can only count this as a great success.

Hey, FCBD ‘06 wasn’t all bad. Were it not for that, the magic Clevinger/Wegener dynamic would have never been discovered, and the world would be a darker place!

  2. ljlucy Said:

I stumbled onto your old site through a link from a webcomic friend’s site. You may remember him as Shawn, the dude we kinda roomed with at Digital Overload. He linked to you because he was stuck doing Naruto sketches with you at Free Comic Book Day.
